In recent issues of the Sabbath Recorder, long-time SDB researcher Oscar Burdick detailed a number of important errors which can be found in Seventh Day Baptists in Europe and America, Volume 1, published in 1910. Since this resource has been one of the most readily available resources on SDBs, these errors have been reproduced innumerable times. Through his research, he has unearthed the truth and has agreed to allow the Historical Society to make his list of corrections available on our website to continue the process of combating these errors. Oscar has long been at work on a book dedicated to English SDB history, and we hope the future publication of that book will continue in Oscar’s long labor to get this right!
If you are a researcher or interested party and are planning to cite SDBEA, Vol. 1, please do not do so unless you have checked your reference against this list or have found confirmation in another source which does not rely on SDBEA, Vol. 1.
This entry will be permanently posted on our “Additional Resources” page, and we recommend that you make use of it going forward.
